Vayots Dzor Marz (region) is located in the northern part of Armenia. The total area of the region is 2,308 square kilometers, the population - 53 thousand people.

The administrative center (capital) is the city of Yeghegnadzor, which is located 160 km far from the capital city of Yerevan.

There are 44 settlements in the area, three of which Yeghegnadzor, Vayk and Jermuk.are cities.

Vayots Dzor Marz (region) borders the regions of Gegharkunik and Ararat to the north, the Syunik region to the south, the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan to the west and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to the east.

Despite of small size, the area is rich in historical monuments and cultural traditions. Vayots Dzor can be regarded as the center of winemaking of the world, as the world's oldest winepress was found here, in the cave of Birds (Trchunneri). It is right here in Areni that the annually Wine Festival is held. The resort town of Jermuk is located in the Marz (region) of Vayots Dzor.
