The Magil cave is one of the largest caves in the territory of Armenia. It is located in the Marz (region) of Vayots Dzor. The investigated and mapped area has a depth of 1.7 km. Summer or winter, the constant temperature here is +14 degrees. Since ancient times, the Magil cave has been place of residence for people. During the investigations traces of human activity of the Eneolithic period were found: those included Stone Age tools, bones. People also lived here in the Middle Ages, as the cave was a perfect haven to shelter from the attacks of enemies. The entrance to the cave is narrow, but here are spacious and high halls inside the cave. There are met stalactites and stalagmites. The Magil cave is also a rare underground ecosystem: a haven for thousands of bats. There are about 65 per cent of the representatives of European Bats here.
