Jermuk

Jermuk is a health-improving city in the Marz (region) of Vayots Dzor, 50 km to the north-east of the regional center, near the source of the river of Arpa, 173 km far from Yerevan. The city is located at the height of 2080 m above sea level. According to a legend, one day a skillful hunter struck a young deer by an arrow in the forests of Jermuk. Wounded deer with great efforts summoned its strength and fled. The hunter followed it. The deer, barely dragging feet, hardly got to Jermuk mineral springs, rushes into the water and ... a miracle happened: the deer got out of the water completely healthy and healed and immediately disappeared in the depths of the forest. An experienced hunter, who had seen everything in his life, was taken aback by the miracle that had made the usual water and the rumor about the water "Jermuk" spread worldwide since that day. And the deer that discovered the secret of the miraculous water - became the favorite of the people and the symbol of Jermuk. The climate is mountainous in Jermuk. Summers are cool, winters are long and snowy. The annual sunny days are about 2300 hours of sunshine. Average air temperature in Jermuk is + 0,4°C in spring, + 15,3°C - in summer, + 4,9°C - in autumn, and -9°C in winter. The average temperature in January is -9°C, and the minimum is -35°C, in July - + 18°C, while the maximum temperature is + 32°C, annual precipitation of approximately 800 mm, the relative humidity from 45% to 48%. There are all conditions for the rest in Jermuk, as well as for the organization of sanatorium treatment both winter and summer. Visiting Jermuk, you can drink mineral waters straight from the source. You can also spend your holidays in suburban forests, on the shore of the Kechut reservoir.
