House-Museum of Minas Avetisyan

Minas Avetisyan is one of the most outstanding personalities persons of Armenian paintings of the second half of the 20th century. By his modern style of painting, he followed the traditions of old Armenian painting. In 1960s during the particular outbreak of the national fine art Minas appeared with his original expression and a specific national art. In his executed copies of the original portraits, landscapes, still lifes, the author’s imagination obeys the object, the forms alive and colouring. But the main part of his works are made from memory, by imagination , like those recalled from memories of events, places, as personal and universal thoughts. Minas also made a series of frescoes and theater decorations. The Museum of Minas Avetisyan was founded in 1982, in his birthplace, the village of Jajur. The works of the painter and his contemporaries are exhibited in the museum.
