Republic Square, Yerevan

Republic Square of Yerevan is not only the main square of the country, but also the most famous sights of the capital, the center of the city. Republic Square was created in accordance with the main plan of the city, which was designed by the famous architect Alexander Tamanian, in 1924. The layout of the area is a comparison of the trapezium and the oval, with the total area of 3 hectares. The area is surrounded by administrative and government buildings: the Government Building "Government House" of the RA, the building of the Ministry of Transport and Communication of the RA, the hotel Armenia-Marriott, the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA, the building of the National Museum of History of the RA. There is a large pool with colored and singing fountains in front of the Museum of History. The monument to V. Lenin was standing on a high pedestal in the southern part of the Square in the years of the Soviet Union, which was dismantled in 1990.
