Tatev Ropeway (Wings of Tatev)

Wings of Tatev (Tatever) is the world's longest ropeway of double reverse acting. It connects the village Halidzor and the monastery of Tatev of Syunik Marz (region). The Cableway was launched on October 16, 2010. The ropeway is located in the Marz (region) of Syunik, 250 km to the south from Yerevan. On October 23, 2010, the inspectors of "Guinness World Records" recorded length of the ropeway in the rate. The length of the cable car is 5752 m. It 1.4 km exceeded the length of the ropeway Sandia Peak (United States, New Mexico), the record holder in this category - the reversible ropeway. The cycle between the stations Halidzor and Tatev lasts 12 minutes. The cable car travels at a speed of 10 m/s on average. Each cabin has an accommodation of up to 25 passengers and one motorman. Cableway may serve maximum 2,000 people per hour. The trailer for a while stiffens over the gorge at the highest point (320m), giving the passengers the opportunity to admire the unique beauty of Syunik Mountains.
