Dsegh House-Museum of Hovhannes Tumanyan

Hovhannes Tumanyan is the most famous Armenian poet, and was awarded the title of All-Armenian poet. Father's house of the poet, which is located in the village of Dsegh of Lori region (marz), 30 km to the north of the city of Vanadzor, was turned into a house-museum in 1939. About 300 valuable exhibits are there stored that represent the life and work of the great writer. The bust of the writer is placed in the yard and there is also built a chapel built (1994), where the heart of the poet is buried. The museum is a two-story building and consists of six rooms. The room were the bread is baked (hatsatun) and a big hall and two showrooms are all in the first floor. The exhibits that are stored there spaek about the genus, parents, the years of education of Tumanyan, as well as about the literary and social activities of the writer. In the two showrooms that are located on the second floor are exposed the bed of the poet, the desk, the clothes and his personal belongings. There are organized major ceremonies and annual Tumanyan’s days on the dates related to Tumanyan and for other various reasons too…
