Armavir Marz (Region) ....

The Armavir Marz (region) is located in the central part of Armenia. The total area of the region is 1,242 square kilometers, which is 4.2 percent of the territory of Armenia. The population of the region is 312 thousand people. The administrative center (capital) of Armavir is located 42 kilometers far from the capital city of Yerevan.

There are 97 settlements in Armavir Marz (region), of which Armavir, Metsamor and Vagharshapat are cities.

The interstate highway and the railway Yerevan-Tbilisi pass through the Armavir Marz (region).

Lake Aknalich, the total area of which is 7 hectares, is located in this region (marz). The rivers Araks and Metsamor flow through the territory of the region (marz).

Facilities of major public importance like Metsamor nuclear power plant and Zvartnots airport are located in the Marz (region) of Armavir.

The spiritual center of the Armenian people - The Mother See of the Armenian Apostolic Church is also located in Armavir Marz (region).
